Places to rest (Yellow)
Design & Finish: Dylan Batty & Louise Zhang
Fabrication: Kazu Noguchi Quill
Drawing on themes of tradition, craft, and connection, Places to Rest (Yellow) presents a collection of furniture inspired by the handmade tables and benches in Zhang's family home in Qidu, Wenzhou, China, and Batty's deep immersion in the craftsmanship of his grandfather, Walter 'Wally' Batty. Though Batty never met his grandfather, Wally's furniture and designs continue to surround him, serving as an active connection to the past.
This collection celebrates the joy of shared moments—or, rather, the shared moments missed. By reimagining these cultural symbols in new contexts, the pieces evolve into personal expressions of celebration and connection, bridging past and present in a meaningful dialogue.
